I’ve been researching a lot about how to write a pitch and query letter for your novel over the last few years, especially since I’ve been more diligently working on my debut. I find the articles and interviews on the subject captivating and inspiring.
Somehow, I managed to trick myself into thinking that summarizing my 108,000 word novel into 250 words was going to be fun. Somehow, I diluted myself to thinking that it would be easy.
What the heck was I thinking!? I wrote a few practice pitches earlier in the year and those were fine, but I wasn’t even thinking about a word limit at the time. I made several attempts yesterday and found it as frustrating as writing a resume. Brutal. I think I have finally gotten onto something though, so I’m leaving it for now and will go back and see if I still like it in a few days… Once the trauma has worn off.
