Two of this week’s words are brought to you by Cassandra’s word calendar. The third comes from Matthew Thomas’ novel, We Are Not Ourselves.
# 1) Febricity: (noun) the state of being feverish.
Example: Carlos rummaged through his kitchen in search of something that would end this febricity that he awoke with. He wasn’t much for feeling sick.
# 2) Crepuscular: (adjective) relating to twilight.
Example: While on safari, I noticed that snakes are rather crepuscular in that they only start to show themselves as the sun begins to set.
# 3) Brogue: (noun) a strong outdoor shoe with ornamental perforated patterns in the leather.
Example: She stepped from the carriage, lifting her pants slightly to show off her brogues to indicate her status. They were very fancy brogues.
