In an effort to expand my own vocabulary, I am continuing on my endeavour to participate in “Wordy Wednesday”. I pick words from colleagues, friends, articles and novels… And really from anywhere.
# 1) Scurrilous: (adjective) making or spreading scandalous claims about someone with the intention of damaging their reputation OR humorously insulting.
Example: Nancy was furious with how scurrilous Fred was being. She just wanted him to be serious for a minute, just for one tiny minute. Instead, he was jostling and trading insults with everyone.
# 2) Indefatigable: (adjective) (of a person or their efforts) persisting tirelessly.
Example: His children were indefatigable. They wouldn’t stop asking if they’d arrived yet. If they asked one more time, he was going to scream.
His wife turned to him and blinked goofily. “Are we there yet?” She poked him playfully and giggled.
# 3) Languorous: to be dreamy, lackadaisical, and languid. When someone is languorous, she’s lying around, daydreaming, possibly fanning herself lazily.
Example: His son was far too languorous for his liking. He wished he would be out there making friends instead of on the couch with his damn nose buried in a book.
Thanks for coming out for another Wordy Wednesday!
